Mentoring

Children raised by guardians may find themselves suffering from low self-esteem and withdrawing socially. Mentoring can deter or correct this. Children with mentors increase their likelihood of going to college, develop better attitudes toward school, increase their social and emotional development and self-esteem.

Everyone is born with gifts and talents that need to be discovered and cultivated. Often, children are not aware of what their gifts and talents are and lack the confidence and ability to discover them. Mentors aid in this and are helpful in assuring children there are people who care about, believe in, and are rooting for their success. They also let children know they are not alone, provide support to deal with day-to-day challenges at home, work, school, and communities and expose them to future opportunities.

Studies show quality mentoring has positive long-term effects in personal, academic, and professional situations by providing personal growth and development and social and economic opportunities. Grandparents and Guardians, Inc. wants to connect every child with a mentor who will help them discover their gifts and talents as well as how to use them responsibly so that they can be beneficial to themselves and the world at large.
