Did you know that over 2.7 million Grandparents are currently raising their grandchildren?

Supporting Grandparents and Guardians experiencing financial hardship

There is an alarming number of grandparents and guardians who are raising children in their parents absence. Tragically, most instances are the result of the death of one or both parents, parental issues with alcohol or drug addiction, crime, mental illness, neglect, and/or abuse.

Unfortunately, acquiring guardianship can be a complicated process. The change is often an abrupt and traumatic experience for both the children and grandparents while dealing with the sudden loss of a vital family member. This issue is further exacerbated by financial restraints as most grandparents and guardians are on single/fixed incomes and very few resources are available to them. This is where Grandparents and Guardians, Inc. wants to make an impact in communities. With your help, we can provide economical, educational, and mental health support to these under-served households, enabling guardians to raise children in a healthy living environment and providing enriching opportunities that foster success.

Tutoring

Children suddenly raised by grandparents or guardians can experience academic interruptions and require tutoring. Tutors don’t just assist with classes and homework. Tutors serve as bridges that cultivate understanding between guardians and students who may be learning in new ways that their guardians may not be accustomed (i.e., via I-Pad or Web Based Learning), while also ensuring that the home environment encourages the forming of healthy study habits that will ensure future academic success.

Mentoring

Guardians are in critical need of role models that they can identify with to help provide exposure to new experiences and help reinforce positive values. Mentors not only serve as role models but also assist children in finding and exploring their personal gifts and talents, teach them how to express and regulate their emotions and help build new pathways to a positive future.

Support for Families

It is imperative that both guardians and children have a safe platform and environments where they can connect with, encourage and build community and support with other families that are experiencing their unique family dynamics

Make a difference.
